What Movies Are You Watching Lately - Page 644

I also hate the crowds, and the talkers. I tend to watch late showings on weeknights, of movies that have been out for a few weeks. My buddies and I often have the theatre all to ourselves.

Hadn't seen it for quite some time, so dug out the dvd of this:

Directed by David Twohy (and co-written by Darren Aronofsky) it's a nice, moody and stylishly shot little film (in that sense it's not unlike Twohy's Pitch Black, the first and only good Riddick movie). If you haven't already and is going to see it, avoid reading about it before hand.

Great cast, too. Among it, I was surprised to recognize this guy, who I really wasn't familiar with on my last viewing:

Time Crimes / Los Cronocrímenes? That will be one of the best time travel movies of all time.

That's it. Great movie. I saw the title while I was going through my list of recently watched movies and confused it with Timecop and thought "I must've been drunk, because I don't remember watching a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie lately".

Guess what: if you haven't already seen "JCVD", then there really ought to be a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie in your future. It's excellent.

I enjoyed Locke recently and also The Great Beauty - wonderfully dressed lead.

JCVD was much better than it had any right to be.

Raid Redemption. Awesome. Thanks, @Kaplan!

You're most welcome. While it should fill most peoples quota for kicks and punches, I think the sequel would be fun to catch as well. I saw a clip some time back, showcasing some of the ambitious camera work, where they passed a camera from a car, through the window of another car, through the car (guided by a guy disguised as a car seat) and out on the other side to an operator mounted low, outside of the car - all at speed. Low tech, but very cool.

I vaguely remember watching this about half-way through when it came out, but never finishing it. I may have to give it another go.

I finally got around to watching Kingdom of Heaven last night.  Made me almost want to visit the Holy Land...or Spain and Morocco where it was actually filmed. lol

Original or director's cut? Unlike most films with multiple versions, in this one there is actually a material difference...director's cut is much better. And yes the cinematography is great.

Director of Kingdom of Heaven is much better.

This was disappointing. All feel-good and not at all the comedy the trailer makes it out to be. Worth a watch, I guess, but it's miles away from its 7.5 IMDB rating.
