What Movies Are You Watching Lately - Page 509

Saw "Gravity" recently. For some reason I thought it was going to be realistic--it wasn't. The closer you get to hard sci-fi, the more distracting that stuff is. And pretty much every twist and turn of the plot was driven by something that's impossible -- and it was noticeable even to a layman.

It was still better than any movie I've seen in theaters in a long time.

I really liked that movie. It's one of my favorite mysteries/noirs. Plus, Clifton Webb had a fantastic wardrobe too.

Someone watched/posted this here a few weeks ago, so it came back into my mind - I guess it was you?
I like it too, nice work from Preminger and a great cast

yes, that's evident from the moment he gets dressed smile.gif

Sorry but gravity was a crap movie...besides the look and feel the story was shit and I don't know what all the praise is for

It's of the same ilk as Avatar and all of the "blockbuster" comic book movies. They are all vulgar and charmless.

Valhalla Rising - Brutal but also quite beautiful and lyrical. Might be the most fully realized Refn film that I've seen.

The visuals, the pacing, the small cast, the lack of any prologue, the attempts at realism, etc. -- nothing vulgar about that. The only things that really turned me off were Bullock's awful backstory and the womb/rebirth imagery.

I agree, it was fantastic, but I am not sure I would call it fully realized.

I thought the ending was rather awkward tbh.

To my mind, Woody's most complete and satisfying movie. Complex issues and no clear cut answers and learning to live with our own demons.
