was this supposed to be the end of a trilogy or something?

This is supposed to be the last Iron Man film, though Downey will still do the character in the Avengers sequels, thanks to a truck-load of money.

I haven't watched that version.

Is it on the 4-disc Final Cut DVD set or did I need to get the 5-disc ultimate edition?

I'm only aware of a 1 and 2-disc Final Cut DVD which doesn't have that version... ??

It's definitely on the 5-disc Ultimate Edition (which I have) and also on the 4-disc Edition(s)

Also on the 30th anniversary collector's editions which came out last year

Big +1. Scott is responsible for some of my favourite movies (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator), so it's all the more heartbreaking to be let down again and again by his more recent movies. Even his first one, The Duellists, is better than what he does now (it has great mood and cinematography and is to this date the only movie I've watched all the way through with the director's commentary track).

Fun fact: Scott came from directing commercials and did the Apple '1984' one that you may have seen recently in 'Jobs'.

It's obviously been a huge influence and it's amazing how well the atmosphere and visuals stille hold up 30+ years later.

It's from the 5 disk edition with all five versions: U.S. Theatrical Cut ('82), International Theatrical Cut ('82), Director's Cut ('92), Pre-Release Workprint, and the Final Cut ('07).

Like so (in a steelbox):

I also had this:

but sold it to a friend a few days ago (same 5 disks but with more extras, all in a Voight-Kampff like attaché case).
