I know Shane Carruth and he's a massive dickhead that I seriously can't stand, so it's hard for me to be objective about his movies. That said, Primer is interesting and I would probably like it if I didn't know the guy. Upstream Color was a massive load of wank, though.

The first user review on IMDB compares it to Tree of Life. That's enough to keep me away.

Primer is excellent. Another outstanding time travel movie that has largely gone unnoticed is a Spanish movie called "Timecrimes" (Los Cronocrímenes).

Tree of Life was the absolute worst. facepalm.gif Oh look, Sean Penn is crying... and, is that... really.. a fucking 20 minute CGI dinosaur/creation of the universe interlude? My wife and I couldn't keep from laughing. Thank god the theater sold booze.

Will definitely check out Timecrimes - thanks for the rec!

I saw "Blue Jasmine" Saturday night. Interesting movie. I suppose you could call it a "tragicomedy." Excellent acting, especially by Cate Blanchett. She was not a very sympathetic protagonist--although I suppose any straight male couldn't help rooting for any female who looked like Cate Blanchett. Because all the reviewers were comparing her to Blanche DuBois in "Streetcar Named Desire," you knew this was going to end badly for her from the very get-go.

I haven't really liked a new Von Trier movie in years. Dancer in the Dark is the last one that I really enjoyed.

If you have Hulu Plus you can watch Zentropa and Element of Crime, which are both awesome.

The wife and I just went through all five seasons of Breaking Bad watching everything we missed the first time around .Awesome . Walt has such a sympathetic front its easy to forget how really evil he becomes

Si. Not a bad film by any means; mildly entertaining and beautifully shot. Plus a great performance by Kristen Dunst.

Lovelace (2013) 2.5 out of 5 (Pass)
Loosely based on Linda 'Lovelace' Boreman's auto-biography, 'Ordeal'.
The film serves as an introduction to Lovelace but its content suffers from time constraints (under 2 hours).
I found Linda's tribulations underplayed in the film and this should not have happened.
Ham-handed treatment of the subject matter and it is a shame. It deserved better. The acting was acceptable though.
Read the books 'Ordeal' & 'Out Of Bondage' if this subject matter interests you. Both are unforgettable books.
Here is a Doco on Linda (Click to show)

There was another documentary a couple of years about Deep Throat, and most of it was about her. Really fucked up story. I'm not sure I could ever jerk off to that movie knowing her creep husband had her at gunpoint during some of those scenes.
