Korean cinema never ceases to amaze me with the excellent plots and production skills. Here are a couple of really nice thrillers:

New World

The Berlin File

Are there any fans of Breaking Bad on here?

I just don't get what's so great about it....having said that Ive only watched season 1....does it really take off in later seasons.

It's no Sopranos or Wire, that's for sure.

There's no debate - watch it. Make sure you get the remastered version.

Rewatched this: - great visuals, rather tense (but would've prefered the final act to have been more in sync with the first 2/3rds).

Note to NASA and others: Maybe don't name your expeditions to the sun Icarus...

Yeah I really don't know why they did that; movie would have been fine and enjoyable without it but someone wanted the ending to be *bigger* it would seem. I liked the pacing, the visuals, the story, and the science quite a lot otherwise.

Speaking of "the science," anyone else seen Primer yet?

It's definitely worth a go (or two, or three, so you can pick up more of it). I think the lore around its inexpensive making and the wildly varying opinions on what really happened that are strewn across the internet are part of what make it enticing. That and it's probably the closest thing to a plausible time travel movie you're likely to find.

Just don't watch it late at night. It's difficult to follow and will have you nodding off if you don't have the brain power to pay close attention.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

Finally saw The Iceman. A VERY forgettable treatment of Richard Kuklinski's story.

What is FAR more interesting are the 3 HBO interviews with the real Kuklinski. Also, buy the Audiobook or read the book. This film should have been a 20 hour long TV Mini-Series because there is no way to accurately cram everthing into under 2 hours. Director fail here. The acting was ok.

The actual interviews are here (Click to show)

Bone Chilling stuff.....

1992 Interview
2001 Interview
2001 Interview With Dr. Park Dietz

I highly recommend this book (or the Audiobook is excellent)

Carlo, Philip (2006). The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer.

I know Shane Carruth and he's a massive dickhead that I seriously can't stand, so it's hard for me to be objective about his movies. That said, Primer is interesting and I would probably like it if I didn't know the guy. Upstream Color was a massive load of wank, though.
