Enjoyed the joke about "Your Highness"

Would like to see the Bling Ring, but everytime I look at rotten tomatoes, the reviews are worse....

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - not really a good movie but Jim Carrey was hilarious.

Simon Birch 2: The Revenge

Finally saw Skyfall. If nothing else the cinematography rocked. Wish they had talked Sir Sean into coming out of retirement to be the game warden.

In the Cut, Jane Campion directed with adorable Meg Ryan. Quite explicit for a mainstream pic. (at least the uncut version). Interestingly shot- lots of very shallow depth of field,

I'm not sure why but this completely cracked me up.

After picking up the VHS tape or DVD several hundred times over the last 25 years in Blockbuster or my local video store, putting it back on the shelf every time, I finally watched this last night:

In the words of an IMDB reviewer: "The greatest naked space vampire zombies from Halley's Comet running amok in London end-of-the-world movie ever made!"

Including the classic line, "This would be much less terrifying if you would just come to me."

Kind of a mashup of Poltergeist, Revenge of the Living Dead, Highlander and Lamberto Bava's "Demons". The end result is less than the sum of its parts, unfortunately smile.gif

That should never be the verdict for any big-budget blockbuster (IMO), a few films can be OK, but going man, I'll just wait to watch this on a small screen kind of... you know... defeats the purpose of watching a movie.

The Proposition is a great one too. I would like whoever directed it to make a film version of Blood Meridian.

Don't forget The Fast & The Furious, The Three Musketeers, 88 Minutes and Howard the Duck.

The Great Gatsby (2013)
Horrible. What a terrible waste of resources and talent. f(*#ing RAP and contemporary music? WTF???.
Can't Hollywood do a period piece properly?!? Evidently not.
Whoever made this mess should be horsewhipped.

I was on my own last night (wife and son out of town, daughter off to July Fourth festivities) so I wound up watching Cloud Atlas on PPV.

I suppose I can give them credit for ambition, but if I hadn't read the book I wouldn't have had any idea what was going on. I also don't remember the stories in the book having the same happy endings they had in the movie, but it's been a few years since I read the book.
