I only saw Part 3 but I really liked it. After Bronson it's the best Refn film I've seen.

Those are all women I would describe as "ugly hot".

Javyn, as you enjoyed Fitzcarraldo, you will also enjoy

Burden of Dreams (1982).
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083702/

Burden of Dreams is actually the 'making of Fitzcarraldo'. Werner Herzog narrates.
Kinski, everyone is in it and it is fascinating to watch. They really did drag that boat through the rainforest to make the story of a man who needs to drag his boat through the rainforest. What madness! What fun! Some hilarious moments.

The French have an expression for this: 'jolie laide'.

In honor of D-Day I was going to watch his other documentary The War but I decided on this one at the last moment as I haven't seen it since middle school. Just finished up the first of the 9 episodes.

Fitz is actually one of my favorite Herzog films, maybe one of my favorites period. Say what you want about Kinski, but he truly was a fine actor that gave even shit movies like Crawlspace (entertaining as it was) his everything. He worked for money shamelessly and honestly, and thankfully snubbed a lot of annoyingly self-important auteurs who wanted him at his critical peak. For an entertaining read that you'll need to take with a grain of salt to enjoy, I recommend his autobiography. A lot of it is most likely fabricated, but it is pretty entertaining.

death shot, I agree. Klaus was great and I thoroughly enjoy his work and is daughters Nastassja and Pola are both stunningly beautiful
