The highlight of the movie. tongue.gif

Had some time overlap yesterday in Berlin so I went to the red carpet at the Berlinale. "Saw" (mostly at the screen, to be honest) Jude Law, Rooney Mara, Steven Sonderbergh, Wong Kar Wai + missus and some other random guys and gals.

Keeping with the western theme: Cat Ballou.

Straight up '60s comedy with Jane Fonda in tight denim, Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye as a greek chorus, and Lee Marvin in an well deserved Oscar-winning role.

"Lola Langusta ... hotter than a Mexican's lunch!" is one of the greatest lines ever written.

I finally got around to seeing Dark Knight Rises. Don't see what generates so much ire about this movie. I thought it was a decent enough action film with some really excellent casting. Maybe a little overlong but the action setpieces were entertaining and the writing and acting were both good. What is it that people are hating so much about it?

I think most people were just disappointed it wasn't on the same level as TDKR.

It was pretty good IMO, but clearly inferior to its predecessor. TDK was a good *movie*, irrespective of genre. TDKR was a good superhero movie.

Dunno, I thought it was the best of the 3

The only thing I didn't like is that because I still have an old-ass projection TV, the ending didn't make sense because I couldn't make it out. Had to read on Wikipedia what happened which lessened the impact but still wow.

Watched Aliens last night.

Now that I've seen Prometheus, Alien and Aliens (In that order, no less) I feel like I can see what Prometheus was trying to do but man... they really need another prequel. Also, Prometheus really confirms my belief that I formed after the Star Wars prequels... basically don't do a prequel for a series that's set way into the future decades after the originals. Our conceptualization of the future and technology makes the prequels lack continuity, I think.

And while I'm not making any revelations or adding anything new... Alien, Aliens then Prometheus for Aliens films. May have enjoyed Aliens a tad more than Alien, however, but Alien was a better movie, needed less cheap thrills.

Have the Quadrology box set, will watch the other two this week, maybe. Then, the AvP franchise (seen the first satisfied.gif )

Prometheus was not a strict prequel to Alien. They are going to be making a sequel to Prometheus.

You just said that Forrest Gump is one of your favorite movies. Your opinion must be discounted appropriately.
