glad to hear that, i am looking forward to seeing it.

Not as chilling as I expected, but the most harrowing scene occurred at the end and it was really well done. It's pretty obvious how this influenced Psycho.

Watched this tonight. Nice rec. Good movie, not top 5. Very poignant. Had no idea Vincent Cassel's father was also an actor, Jean Pierre Cassel. They look a lot alike.

Watched Altered States a few days ago. Why does Christian iconography scare the shit out of me so much? Even if it is hella tacky

When I'm home for the holidays I'll get to see the high frame rate Hobbit. Cool.

Unfortunately it looks like that also means the 3D version. I've never seen a movie in 3D and don't really want to. What's the point? It's not really 3D and I can distinguish depth from height and width just fine without it.

OK, I am all for complaining about 3D.

But wtf? at least go see a god damn movie in 3D (preferrably something filmed in 3D, not some crap with post-processed 3D).
Then you can honestly bitch about what stupid crap it is.

Pulp fiction last night was great. They played a series of trailers from Tarantino's personal collection before the movie.

Had been a while since I had seen it so it was nice. Both of the people who had never seen it liked it.

One thing I don't get: some asshats in front of me started packing up their shit, put on their coats, got up and left before the credits even rolled. I mean yeah, it was the end of the movie as they were getting up to walk out of the cafe, but the damn movie wasn't even over. My friends who had never seen it might not have known it was over (there was already a false ending at the end of the chronological story) and even if everyone knew it was over, are you going to make noise and stand up right in fucking front of me before the movie is over?

I'm someone who likes to sit for the credits (I paid for that piece of soundtrack too! and those cats worked hard to get their names on the screen), but not even waiting for the credits to start? its not like it is a sporting event where the parking lot is going to be packed and you gotta GTFO.

Maybe they had a sitter. I've had to do shit like that before, not by choice and I doubt it was for them either.

Let me guess: there was a month of previews, probably screwed up their time to be home.

it was a group of 3 people...they couldn't have all had a sitter.
And there are literally like 30 seconds of the movie left at that point. Maybe they were agitated to get out of there, but those 30 seconds aren't going to make a difference. So don't be a dick and make noise and stand up in front of people who are still watching.

Ya, 30 seconds, thats stupid. They didnt want to deal with the crowd trying to walk out. Thats a dick move.

Life of Pi - 3D - I can't recommend this highly enough. Absolutely incredible. How he managed to not only film a completely unfilmable book, and on top of that make it a visual masterpiece, is completely beyond me. Its practically a work of art. Definitely the best movie I've seen in the past few years.

One caveat - do NOT see this high on acid.

I didn't say it was stupid crap. I said I don't understand the point.

And I've seen things filmed in '3D' before, just never a full motion picture. I'm well aware of what it looks like and how it works. It was a novelty the first time I saw something filmed in 3D when I was young and I don't understand how something that was a novelty to me then is going to be anything more to me now. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I also don't understand why my expectations seem to bother you so much. Without knowing me or my reasoning, could you discern that I somehow horribly misjudged the value of a 3D movie so much that I should be appropriately reproved for it? If not, then relax.
