Going strictly by the number of tmes I have watched it, ie dozens of times, Alien is my favorite movie, so it gives me a sad that stitch didn't enjoy it.

great flicks, and i enjoyed them for the exact same reasons.
i found the 2 maintenance guys in the first alien movie to be far more ridiculous than anyone in prometheus. the guys were supposedly top of the line scientists. just morons in street sense. and they did not think they would need that.
chea. did not sleep well for weeks. frown.gif
yessiree!

one of my favorites. brilliant and terrifying.

(re: arlington road)
oh yeah, agreed. while visually harmless, one of the most disturbing endings of the movies i've watched

Green Hornet for the third time. I understand this film doesn't get a lot of love. However, it's more than sufficient to deliver simple entertainment with Hollywood-driven effects. The first run was very enjoyable, the second was still fine, the 3rd is just "ok". Won't watch it a 4th time. Paul, for example, is much better in that regard.

So, watched MIB 3. Also good entertainment (better than The Green Hornet).

b1os might give stitches a run for the "Worst Taste in Movies Ever" award.

There are few blockbuster movies I'd give less than 5/10. And also few that I'd give 9/10 or even 10/10.

Watched Cabin In The Woods the other day.  Was a refreshing take on what I thought was going to be just another typical zombie movie.

i wouldnt say i loved TDKR, i would say i enjoyed it, and was not let down by it. i think it got too much hate.

i would not say i hated alien, i said i was disappointed in it. i was expecting more, and i did not get it. that is all. not a bad movie, just not my fave. but then again, the whole genre of horror and sci-fi, is not really my joint anyways.
i much more enjoy great narrative movies, like goodfellas, shawshank, godfather. and also thrillers/dramas, such as most recently breach and margin call. then i would put mindless action and crude humor movies, and then sci-fi, and at the bottom, horror. i do not find being scared shitless to be entertaining.

yes, i loved arlington rd. it is by all accounts a great movie. those who disagree suck at movies.

wrong.

i resent that. mad.gif

certainly i am not the picky critic many here are, and i allow myself to enjoy being entertained by movies that are not going to make any, all time great, lists, but i would not say i have bad taste in movies.

gonna watch either Le Samourai or Battle of Algiers tonight
post #4345 of 9438
Battle of Algiers is a total classic. Le Samourai is kind of cheesy to me. Meliville made much better movies IMO. Not sure why that is the one that always gets namechecked.
I'm not sure either, I agree 100%. Army of Shadows is away above it, followed by Le Cercle Rouge.

Samourai is more in the range of Le Doulos and Bob le Flambeur imo

Army of Shadows is my favorite too. It's hard to imagine that there was a time when that film was considered politically controversial.

Saw The Master last night. Not what I expected. Not sure how I feel about it. Seemed kind of pointless. Structure was too similar to There will Be Blood, and while PSH and Phoenix were amazing the film just didn't have that same level of interest for me. It's like, instead of following Daniel Plainfield's character in TWBB we followed the story of that guy who pretended to be his brother. The PSH character was the much more interesting one.

I don't know. May see it again.
