Vanilla Sky is ****. Cruz is unwatchable. Crowe might be one of the most overrated directors working today. With the exception of Almost Famous, everything else he's done is crap. Only good scene is post-accident when Cruise confronts that group of doctors who have engineered that fancy mask...
Aside from his uh music career, what has Lynch been up to lately?
Dude, Crowe wrote Fast Times and directed Singles and Say Anything. He may not be wall-to-wall brilliant, but Almost Famous wasn't his only good work.
You're telling me. One of my favorites. I met Kyle MacLachlan a few weeks ago.
I really like Singles. A lot of people I know haven't heard of it.
I do, too. It may be my favorite Crowe movie, even if it's not his best.
I've noticed it's not very well known, as well. I suppose it never really got popular enough to be talked about much 20 years later, which is too bad, really. If nothing else, it was a really cool chronicle of the early-90s grunge scene. In fact, I believe all of the bands that appear in it - Pearl Jam in particular - were still nobodies on the national scene when the movie was made, then they happened to blow up right around its release.

I am a big Campbell Scott fan. That is what brought me to it.. He was amazing in Roger Doger, and The Secret Lives of Dentists.
speaking of Blue, how about Blue Velvet. Now THAT'S a fuckin crazy ass weird but great movie

Woah, awesome! Tell him he's the **** in Portlandia!

After reading the profile piece on Whit Stillman in last week's issue of NY Times Magazine, I'm going to try and watch a couple of his other films besides Manhattan, which is one of my favorites. Anyone have any thoughts about Barcelona or Last Days of Disco?
