What Movies Are You Watching Lately - Page 239

Imhoff, I've seen that. I felt that it was a very intricate and sensitive documentary.

Your DP must have about a zillion views, also.

I must be tired. What does DP mean?

And it is the interviews with the SS officers that got to me. How they show no remorse or any human emotion

Display Picture.

I agree. However, the internal conflict many of them must feel must be so immense, that they may not know how to express it -- or, they could be vile and cruel men who truly do not feel any remorse whatsoever.

Complex.

Ahhh yes, quite a few views. Far more than my threads get. Haha.

It's very complex indeed. One would think human instincts would kick in and realize that their actions were not... right. I'm not one to delve into history, but this documentary has my full attention.

It's so sad, dude.

I always thought DP meant "double penetration."

Oh, and watching Zodiac with my older daughter. It's almost disturbing how accurate this movie is, down to the locations and original phone recordings, etc.

Yeah, I should watch that one again. Fincher is so good at creepy movies that take place in the dark. Zodiac, Se7en, The Game, and Fight Club are all sort of similar to me in a way.

very brave of you to watch that hoff. im not sure i could handle it.

regarding the lack of remorse, i have read and heard many theories, and psychological analysis, about how what happened did, and why the officers and those involved were so callous and utterly indifferent. there are books upon books on the subject, and i dont think there is any one answer. its a mix of a great many things, that i dont think i can really get into without getting upset, and emotionally drained. whatever the answer is, and im not sure we will ever really know, the important thing is that people do watch these kinds of movies, and that education on the holocaust continues, and that it is never forgotten.

I'll have to check that out. I'll have to keep away from stuff that breaks though. Anything about Auschwitz pisses me off.

I haven't been able to watch Holocaust movies for years, I'm usually in tears within the first 30 seconds or so. In Hebrew High School they made us sit through the entirety of Shoah, between that and all th other "we must never forget" material that I was fed as a child I feel like I've seen a lifetime's worth of holocaust documentaries.
