What Movies Are You Watching Lately

I finally got around to watching The Lives of Others recently. I know, I know, years behind. It was quite possibly one of the best films I've seen in the past 10 years.

Yeah, this movie is pretty friggin' great.

i finally rented SALT the other day. it wasnt that bad actually.

So, in other words, another fine installment of "The Angelina Jolie Movie" where the sexy sultry mysterious Angelina kicks everybody's ass. Don't get me wrong, I like this movie, but she keeps making it over and over again.

I just watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. I had watched the other two and figured I might as well complete the trilogy. I watched this so that you don't have to. If you'll recall from the first installment there is a scene were it is revealed why Lucien hates the vampires so much. This movie was basically 90 minute version of that scene. Absolutely no surprises at all.

I cannot believe that the guy who played Frost in Frost/Nixon is also the leader of the Lycan clan.

Also just watched Death at a Funeral. There were some funny parts, especially stoned James Marsden, but other than that sort of boring.

That's a lot of intensity. You may want to watch The Sound of Music or something to chill out a bit.

Interestingly enough...were I to watch The Sound of Music, that would be what drags me down.

So OK, looking for a recommendation for a good comedy. I like ensemble stuff and movies typically 10 years or older that fly under the radar. Does that make sense? So like not blockbuster stuff but big names.

Finally watched There Will be Blood which has been sitting there mocking me in the red Netflix envelope for two months. It was good although I wasn't as blown away as I thought I would be.

Gonna do Synedoche New York and The Savages next - on a Phillip Seymour Hoffman kick.

You could simply think of a few of your favorite things, and then you wouldn't feel so down.

You could try Bamboozled. It doesn't end funny, but there's plenty of humor in it. Also, have you seen Pootie Tang?

My wife really likes Noises Off. I thought it was pretty good. Stellar cast and some pretty screwball humor. Maybe Road to Wellville. Not liked by many, but thought of very highly by me.

I was watching I Saw The Devil last night as some were calling it the best film of 2010 and even going so far as to say it's the best thriller since Se7en. While I don't agree with either statement, I will say that it's probably the most violently disturbing film I've seen since Ichi the Killer. Apparently it's banned in it's country of release. And the dude from Oldboy (one of last decade's best films, btw) is a crazy ass mofo in it, that taxi cab scene was something else.

Been watching a lot of movies from the 1940s on TCM.

The film noire B & W stuff can really be fun and though I guess I have seen most of them, there is occasionally a new one to me.

Anyone else into 1940s ( and some 1950s ), B & W movies on TCM?

BTW it seems the 1940s movies are generally better than the 1950s movies.

By the 1960s, the genre was dead.

Not specifically on TCM, but I am a fan of film noir, yes.
