Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Ben Foster has now played a psycho perfectly twice: 3:10 to Yuma and here. He similarly also was the most bad ass guy on the squad in Lone Survivor. Awesome actor for these roles.

By the numbers end of the world flic. Some satisfaction in the fact that it's a bit bleak and a couple of disaster scenes are well done. Not much to it otherwise.

The most interesting thing for me was that part (most?) of it was shot in Australia, with some scenes done in New York. Must save money doing it this way.

Don't fear the surf movie:

psychedelic foray into the shortboard revolution circa 1969.

one of my fave movies ever. a time capsule of surf culture in 1972. the chapter featuring Gerry Lopez at pipe is somehow both utterly atmospheric and immediately thrilling. great soundtrack too.

If you like low'ish budget single location time loop sci-fi with a few twists along the way and a rather Commander Shepard from Mass Effect looking lead, you should like this.

Hmmm...sounds a lot like Primer.

Its take on time looping isn't as complex as Primer's, it's more of the Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow sort.

While I did enjoy it for the most part, I feel it's at times playing things a bit too subdued, to the point it sometimes felt like watching two different movies at the same time. As well, Patrick Stewart i's so understated that his performance doesn't feel big enough for the movie, and the antagonists never quite feel as threatening as they should be, which ultimately does the movie a disservice.

I believe that it's been turned into a series and transplanted to the US.

This is a seriously perverse creeped out film about child abduction and other nefarious behaviour. It moves on a nonlinear narrative which in its play is disconcerting and further heightened due to the fact that everything past and present occurs in winter.

Good ensemble cast and strong intelligent direction by Atom Egoyan make a very watchable thriller.
