What Movies Are You Watching Lately - Page 929

Might actually consider viewing this at the theater this weekend. Would be the first time I went to one since I watched The Dark Knight Rises.

A low budget film with a straightforward, simple story.

I do not remember when was the last time i was shocked by movie violence (come to think of it, it was probably Apocalypto). Shockingly brutal is a very accurate description.

Some solid acting though; I think I underestimated Kurt Russell.

Big trouble in little china.

Also, its interesting to note the profound impact of kurosawa on the "western" genre.

You coud go on and on with watchable Russell roles from the Jungle Boy on Gilligan's Island through The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes to The Hateful Eight. He's had a cool career.

Breakdown is a little-seen thriller that's pretty damned good fun and one of the great JT Walsh's last roles.

Tombstone rocks.

And then there's of course this little thing, with its classic Drew Stuzan

I remember watching Tango and Cash one to many times growing up. Was a cool movie at the time.

I remember reading in some Criterion liner note or another how ironic it is that he's the go-to Japanese filmmaker, as all his efforts are distinctly American in nature...

In other news, we caught The Golden Child the other day while too lazy to move from the couch -- am happy to report it really holds up.
