Watched recently:

The Tourist: not as action-y as I thought it was going to be, but I enjoyed it for the most part.

The Runaways: meh. got sick of hearing Cherry Bomb the second time they played it.

Watch Holy Rollers. Pretty good film about Orthodox Jews smuggling ecstasy.

Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, and the guy from Boardwalk Empire kicked ass in this movie.

I'm trying to watch Synedoche, New York and so far I can't stand it. This seems like one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen. I'm about to turn it off and watch a James Bond movie or something.

Yep, 30 minutes later I've turned it off. It is going back to Netflix unwatched. I know some people love this movie but I don't get it.

Watched Somewhere last night. I really liked it.

I also watched this last week, and I thought it was brilliant. Most people will either have a love/hate relationship with Kaufman stories, which is not surprising. It's definitely not a film to be watched for entertainment purposes, but rather for artistic value/appreciation. This is why most casual moviegoers hate it while cinephiles are in love with it. Calling it confusing would be an understatement though, and I'm not sure I can sit through repeat viewings to catch all that I missed. Philip Seymour Hoffman never fails to disappoint either and he's easily one of the top 3 actors in the business.

In the last week or two: The Social Network - loved it! Thought it looked stupid from the previews. TRON Legacy (IMAX 3D) - Fucking awesome soundtrack and visuals. The plot and acting was thin at times, but it kept me entertained. Imax 3D viewing highly recommended. The dude abides. Devil - Meh... It was suspenseful and scary, though. 127 Hours - Great! The Royal Tenenbaums - Stopped mid-movie. Couldn't take the boredom. Piranha - Terrible. Even the fake boobs were terrible. True Grit - Snooze-fest! Going the Distance - Cute film idea, but it wasn't that great. Monsters - Great! Low-budget sci-fi film, with a hot actress to boot.

I'm a big fan of Hoffman as well and have liked a lot of the Kauffman films but apparently wasn't in the mood last night. I ended up watching The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds on Netflix streaming
