My Internet Snark Meter is not very good so I cannot tell if you are genuine about TLKG. I actually like this movie and believe it to be one of the best "Woman-As-Action-Star" movies around. That said, don't be expectin' some Die Hard Level type ****.

I saw the thread and responded in it, but due to the fact that it was in DT, I wasn't sure if you were being serious or not. Glad to hear that you like the film. Sam Jackson has some good lines. The little girl is as annoying as hell, however. As for myself, I watched Valkyrie over the weekend. It was okay.

You really should check out the new Rambo and Rocky movies. His botoxed, loose skinned, old person, muscle implanty, beef jerky like appearance really lends an impressive surrealist element to the latest stuff.

A most enjoyable, surprise. The documentary called Exit Through The Gift Shop.

I highly recommend that you check it out.

Catching up with classics:

-Oceans 11 (Original)
-3 Days of The Condor
-2001: Space Odyssey (HD makes it amazing eye-candy!)

The talking about Sci-Fi in a couple other threads got me in the mood to rewatch some good ones, and try out a new one.

Moon: This will someday be a classic, it's pretty sick, and just amazingly well acted.


The Man From Earth: I didn't like the strong-armed atheistic approach, but still entertaining. A lot of people hated it due to the fact nothing actually happens (it's all talk), but that's what I enjoyed about it. It's hard to make a film that could essentially be a radio play, and still have it fun, but this does it. Highly recommend it.


And for a movie I hadn't watched before:

Pandorum.

Stuck in a space ship with monsters......

Actually, decent. It's nothing super special, but compared to the reviews I read, and what I expected, I was pleasantly surprised. If you've got 2 hours to kill, and enjoy horror/sci-fi, grab it.

+1 On Moon. You are right, will be considered a classic. Rockwell rocked the part.

both good films, Moon was easily the best film of 2009 and Sam Rockwell was totally snubbed in not winning an Oscar for Best Actor. definitely one of the best and most memorable acting performances, if not the best, in at least the last 10 years. Pandorum is one of the better offerings in the deep-space terror sub-genre along with the likes of Event Horizon, Sunshine, etc. The twist in the ending is pretty neat.

Couldn't agree more. Original Oceans 11 seems a bit too campy for my taste. And 70's Redford rocks. All The President's Men and The Sting remain on my list of great movies all-time.

Noticed that Brad Pitt sort of tries to mimic Redford's style. Key word is tries. Redford pulls it off so effortlessly.

The twist was great. Mostly because it wasn't one you could see coming. I'll have to talk rather obliquely to avoid spoilers for others.... but basically one moment I was thinking "Woah, freaky sky...", the next "ohhhhh.."
