So why's he wearing a plain blue coat in the image?

Saying that, I always want to punch him in the face.

Actually, my impression was also that he was decrying mixing suit separates, with which I would concur (the vast majority of the time, anyway), not denouncing odd jackets per se.

I totally loved this post on The Trad, I guess it's event-specific, but it looks like fun: Newport to Bermuda 1986 vs 2010

He's a very decent music journalist. Not sure he looks or writes any more shyte than Charlie Porter used to. Not sure what Petridis writes usually constitutes 'advice' as such - usually a personal musing on likes/dislikes. That is not a recommendation or defence, mind you.
Porter should have been tarred and feathered for his haircut alone. I might be biased against poor Chuck, mind: I want to take a pick axe handle to anyone who's ever had anything with the British GQ. I really, really, fuqing hate it.

Very well said, Oleg!

As for the other Guardian columnists, let's not forget that in addition to Petridis being a fine music journalist, we owe the Guardian a debt a gratitude for the wonderful Charlie Brooker, who justifies the price of the paper every time he's in it.

Petridis is a great musical journalist but the fashion column is extremely irritating, mainly because it it predicated on not taking men's clothing seriously, in contrast to the women's column above (written by the lovely Jess Cartner-Morley).
