Kiton Tie question

Kiton tie craftsmenship is the very best.
Very fine detail.
Great folding (better than Drakes imo).
Me hate Kiton tie,
bad knot and other things.

Rather than guess or assume anything, why not count the folds?

Level of craftsmanship should've been obvious to you prior to handing them money.
Kee-tawn ties while not spectacular, are very decent. Patterns are rare, and the silks hold up more or less well. Pricing - which is a whole nother story - has gone from ridiculous to plain idiotic.
Some resellers are asking as much as $275 these days. On the flip side, next to Stefano Ricci that is a bargain.

Some Kitons are made of such smooth, silky soft fabric that they tie terrible knots that tend to slip. Silks are great looking though. Good at the Sak's day-after Christmas sale for about $80 a pop.

Are kiton ties better than charvet's?

I find those two to be very much on the same plateau.

I disagree somewhat. I find that Charvet ties are all fairly consistent in quality, quality of knot, etc., from style to style and model to model. Whereas Kiton ties can vary greatly, depending on the type. Their sevenfolds run a bit thick as sevenfolds go, IMO, to the point where they are rather ungainly to tie and stiff to wear. They do use some great silks, though!

For my Italian ties, I will take Cappelli, Marinella, Borrelli, and even the occasional Brioni over Kiton any day of the week. A lot of that is personal taste, mind you, and not a vote on quality. At that tier, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a great tie; what matters at that point are the small things and personal preferences.

Yes, count the folds. They are among my favorite ties.

I find them very nice but certainly not worth their full retail price. What did you pay?

There is something about the fabrics that Kiton uses that makes them so nice to the touch.
