The April in Paris rec is good, that is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for. Any other suggestions along those lines?

This was a gift from my boss. I kept it for a few months before I just sold it. It is pretty solid. Made in USA. You can't beat the quality. If I needed a sterling silver money clip I would buy a...

I just picked this up and I am pretty pleased. Just what I expected. I am pleased with the Bark. However, I wish it was a little darker. A great deal for $35. Comparable to other belts in the...

Purses are very personal to women and undecipherable by men. I have a feeling it'll be much better to let her choose. Just take her to a Coach, LV, etc. (depending on your funds) store and let her have the pleasure of browsing the store, having the store staff pamper her and feed her compliments, and finally walk out smug with the store's branded shopping bag and walk around the block/mall a few times to show off.

So I wanted to buy my wife a nice purse for Christmas - but I sort of want to do it the styleforum way - meaning, I want some artisan making it from selected pieces of leather with an attention to detail that blows away a standard luxury brand...
Anyone know where to go? I scanned purseforum a bit, but they are pretty brand obsessed and the only brand I have any respect for is Hermes and they are ridiculously $$$.

Cellerini would be a good choice at a lower price point. They only have the store in Florence, but they might ship an item. Some items look almost like Hermes, but others are original designs.
FWIW, I buy most of my wife's stuff for her (it's easier to just have one of us shop) and she's been happy with Bottega Veneta and Cellerini with a few Launer (dressy) and Bojola (casual).
