The most compliments I get are on a beat up pair of AE park aves that I got for $50 shipped on B&S. No compliments for my EG, Alden or other AE that are in better shape.

Yes, they are beautiful... Could one possibly wear high boots in Los Angeles? It's always so damn warm here and it rarely rains.

As Racing Green said, his regular wingtips get the same attention. To the guys who own the Cheaney boots: When you get the compliments, your pants are covering the boot portion, so is it safe to say they are mainly complimenting the pebble grain wing tip aspect of the shoe, while the boot aspect may just be incidental? Wow, those multi-purpose Cheaney boots are a huge win for winter. I haven't worn boots in years, but this can be pulled off as "office wear", when the pant falls over the ankles. I can justify some serious cash outlay for something good.

I wear my ankle boots in 90 degree weather all the time, though I'm pretty much used to the climate where I'm living.

Patrick, I am here to learn about clothing. Period. Look at the threads I've started. Who is hijacking whom? Have you noticed I never start anything? Those Cheaney boots get me thinking about getting the brogue version: either the Herring Grassmere or the Rusland. The Grassmere appears to have a slicker last though.
