more info, to add to the info i posted before.

like i said, BEGIN is an okinawan rock group. they play a traditional okinawan instrument called san-shin. it's a guitar with three strings and the the body is made out of the same snake skin that they made the patch out of.

the symbol on the side pocket is the outline of the pick used to strum on the san-shin.

the blue little ornament that is tied onto the belt loop is an okinawan good luck charm.

so, these jeans are actually pretty dope!

btw, anyone who owns the sugar cane okinawas, the snake skin patch is also the same snake skin they use for the san-shin instrument. the deadly habu snake!

Even Okinawas and Hawaiis are repros. The only non-reproish thing about them is that they have unusual rear pocket stitching and, in the case of the Okinawas, the snakeskin patch.

Sugar Cane has two major lines, "Standard Denim" and "Japan Original"; the former I would call repros (to include the MADE IN USA jeans [55 and 66] and Standard 47's), the latter has repro elements, but includes patented Sugar Cane weirdness to include the satokibi line, and the Hawaii's, Okinawa's, etc.-----with non-standard dying techniques (mud, tea, ai, persimmon), the famous sugar millet/cotton blend denim, and unusual detailing (snakeskin patches and the like). I feel uncomfortable calling any of the Japan Originals "repros" as they incorporate seriously innovative elements. However, I am happy to call all Sugar Canes "workwear" since they are built for abuse.

You're a brave man

I try hard to stay away from this part of the neighborhood as the last time I lurked here for awhile, I got rid of all my gap jeans and picked up two Double RL sanforized denim jeans on the bay. I love those and I'm afraid to learn more about sugarcanes and APC's etc. I can't go high end on both the dress and the streetwear clothing. I just can't. I won't be able to eat
