Even tough SOBs like me...

get puffy eyed and sobby. Its the last day I'm getting to spend with my two dogs, Reilly and Lulu. My son is one of those highly allergic kids, and he could risk getting asthma later on if exposed to them and their dander for much longer. We've found a very kind woman who has agreed to take them both (in Newark) and she's coming to get them today. I admit, two kids, small apt, two dogs is a real pain in the ass, but damn it hurts. I just wish it wasn't the right thing to do. Just wanted to vent...

stupid is your comment "they're called wingtips" in the sales thread, and not being able to see beyond what your told (called inferencing, we teach it to 13 year olds)...we didn't always live in a small place...but just consider yourself lucky you have the internet to hide behind.

^^ truth.

Man, even though you're doing the right thing, it's still tough - at least they're going to a good home.

Those look like nice dogs. Hang in there.

Pretty shitty, but like they say, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Since I moved out of my mothers house I hardly ever see the family dog, I miss him quite a bit. At least you know they are going to a good home.

I feel for you. But, I'm happy to hear that they will have a good home.

We are great fans of rescue dogs. Below are Eddie and Ruby, our two rescue beagles. Both are about 13 y.o. and were adopted when there were about 10 y.o.

Adopting a adult dog is the way to go... you avoid all the pitfalls of the youthful years!
Moreover, the dogs are grateful. That may sound strange ... but it's true.
If you have the ability, I'd strongly urge you to give an older dog a new home.

Didn't mean to hijack ... but am always looking to encourage adoption.

Very sorry to hear it, NYR. I'm a big wuss when it comes to my dogs, too, so I'm sympathetic. It sounds unavoidable, but I'm sure that doesn't make it suck any less.

My heart goes out to you and your family because I know how hard it must be to let them go. Glad to hear they're going to a good home, but still, I know it must really hurt.
