You're right, some of his stores or certain paragraphs do seem very weak and have no direction whatsoever, but I think that I'm so biased that I don't even care.
As far as the song breakdowns, I am amazed with how many lines i've never caught before and I listen to his songs on a daily basis (even the songs he broke down in the book). Its been a good read so far for me.
