Low back pain while sitting at a desk all day? - Page 2

Use a pillow when the BF is getting at you from the back!
(Could not resist!)

Find a good physical therapist, consider a different chair or atleast consider the settings of the chair and it's relation to your desk height. For me the most comfortable position is the next position I'm in. Getting up and moving when possible will be more beneficial than the same exact position for hours on end.

don't visit a chiropractor. cracking your back isn't going to loosen your hip flexors and tighten your inner core. go see a doctor first and then a physiotherapist. sit less, stand up every 15 minutes to stretch.

Sitting too much also tightens the hamstrings, which can cause back pain. Tight hamstrings are pretty easy to diagnose: bend at the waist and touch the floor. If you can't touch the floor (even better, put your palms flat on the floor), you need to stretch. Stretch out the hamstrings and hip flexors and see if the pain goes away. You may need to do it every day.

You probably didn't hurt yourself lifting, if you did, you probably would have noticed it when it happened. Sitting all day is just not good for you, that's the most likely explanation.

+1 for the previous three posts. Though in my case it was a little bit of hip flexor issue and a lot of glutes. A few dedicated glute and I.t. band stretches had the biggest benefit for me but hip flexor stretches helped I think also.

If you can't afford an Aeron try using a stability ball/balance ball to sit on.

Just ask your MD for a Bupivacaine ESI

Who was that scary US politician who used work from a lectern? Seem to remember he also wore suits with trainers. I know the face, I know the speeches. I even remember having a nightmare, where he sent soldiers out to have me assassinated. The name is on the tip of my tongue...

It's the chair and your hamstrings. This happened to me ears ago when I was only 22 or 23. I changed my chair and the pain went away. I was using what once was a good chair too. Also, stretching my hamstrings alleviated the pain. I went to a chiropractor and a massage therapist. I felt great after their services, but they didn't fix my problem.

I have an Aeron at work, but keep in mind that it won't solve all your back pain problems. The culprit for me was that I was hunching over my desk to work on a laptop. Once I got a proper laptop stand and a regular keyboard and mouse, it's taken care of the problem. I will agree that the Aeron is an amazing chair, provided you can find the right fit.

Have you previously injured your lower back? The Aeron may not be firm enough, even on the tightest tension. Swap for a firmer chair. Fitting your legs under the desk is also important. If you use a laptop, consider using an expanded keyboard.
