How many brown belts do we need?

Thread Starter
I just started to buy more brown shoes lately and have trouble finding belts that "match" them.
Presently, I have a Byron in chili, and a Strands in walnut. I am looking to acquire another pair in burgundy or dark brown, or maybe chestnut.

Question now is, how many shade of brown belts do I need? Do I need to get a matching belt every time I buy brown shoes?

The question is not how many you need but how many you want. IMO you only need maybe three.

I have different belts for different shoes (although some overlap) and different belts for jeans and trousers. In other words: a lot.

The official number is 7, but essentially any prime integer is acceptable. I think I have tan, light brown, mid brown, dark brown, light brown suede & dark brown suede. I am in the market for a sand suede belt as my current number is divisible by 3 and 2 in addition to 1 and itself. Edit: I just checked and I have a casual brown belt as well. That creates a dilemma, now I either forget about the sand suede, get rid of another belt, or acquire the sand and 3 more to get back to a prime number. Good thread, this is a complicated subject.

I buy more brown belts than any other accessory. I never feel like it's enough - strange... Having said that, I own just two black belts!

Tan, Dark Brown and Black colorwise. I think some belts can look better/worse with jeans or trousers.

I use one mid-brown dress belt for all shades of brown shoes I have, including tan.

1 tan 1 mid to dark brown 1 mid brown suede and 1 brown woven belt because woven belts are the shit.

You're right. I forgot I had a Howard Yount brown suede and a polo brown woven. I also have a tan from BR which I haven't worn in about 4 years.

I like how teddie changed his answer from 1 to 4. I have one, but on the other hand I don't have two pairs of brown shoes.
