Wrong. Especially for Excel functions.

+1

Or OEM versions are usually cheap enough to own for less than one benjamin.

No, he's belittling those who do.
Read the post he quoted carefully.

OpenOffice is fine generally, but a few provisos... 1. Excel requiring sophisticated shit. Personally, I never had a problem with it (don't require sophisticated shit). Those who do consider it unusable. 2. Either Word docs or Powerpoint presentations with detailed templates/formatting....it's not great at dealing with those. We used to have a few clients that had paid designers to come and make very detailed, well laid out house styles. OpenOffice does not like those at all. For general other use, it's fine.

say two other things on it... 1. where OpenOffice goes now that the LibreOffice boys have free reign could be very interesting and totally worth watching 2. if nothing else, it is definitely worth trying it out before either forking out for the MS product or dicking around trying to find a working version with a working serial while being a torrent-dodger. It's undoubtedly worth the download and worth a trial run...fuck, what have you got to lose. In the time since you started this thread, you could have downloaded it and spent nearly a week test driving it to see if it fits your needs.
