I've played wii fit and it seems really nifty for balance/stretching but not so much for cardio (and cmon...doing pushups on the pad is the same as doing pushups on the floor). Kinect seems even less fitness focused.
That being said, you can get some reasonable cardio from playing DDR (once you get past the point where you suck balls and barely move).
I have a computer knockoff of DDR (stepmania) with all of the real sings and a USB pad...If I put it on in endless mode and go until I fail...I spend a reasonable amount of time with an elevated heart rate.
Sure, I could do more efficient cardio in less time but DDR is fun so I am willing to do it longer (I have only played with the point of doing cardio a couple of times...but it seemed to work).
