I guess that is not a problem since 90% of people wear ugly shoes so yours won't stand out anyways. Then why spend so much money on those "high-end" sneakers? Sneakers are sneakers, they will always be low-end footwear, who are these designers trying to fool? You can't add some patent leather or suede and think it will compete with dress shoes. And back to sneakers, how do you deal with the dirt, it is pretty hard to clean off, it will at to the dirty look and help your expensive sneakers blend in with the average shoes that most other people wear, money well spent I see. And why do people wear Chuck Taylor shoes, not only are they ugly they are uncomfortable and they are made of cloth, comon, that is not right.

Sneakers can last forever if you keep them in the box

You need some Box-Fresh Crease Preventing Inserts

And yes, those inserts are suppose to be worn with the shoes as you walk.

So they keep you from getting creases by keeping you from wanting to actually walk around in your shoes?

this'd be the perfect thread for one of those smart china spambots. It's always so impressive to see them respond somewhat sensibly.

What makes sneakers "low-end" or "childish"? Too many people who don't care how they look wear them. Trench coats started as utilitarian military gear; will they "always be low-end"? How about t-shirts? How about button-downs with an unstarched front? I don't know about trench coats, I don't like them. The other two I am fine with.

Of course, I'm always ready for a knickers-and-frock-coats collection from Daiki Suzuki or Yohji, so you might actually have a point.

If you are going to spend money on shoes, better to spend it on something better than a pair of sneakers.

That solves one problem. The sneakers still look dirty though.

The point of pricey sneakers are to be fashionable and casual at the same time. If they didn't exist the only shoes I'd ever own would be 40 bucks since I don't like formal wear and am not required to. So personally, I am willing to pay a few hundred for a good pair of sneakers. There are many others like me. And that is why high priced sneakers exist.
Sneakers are not resoleable. How do you make the heel last longer? I have the same problem with my sneakers. Only the heel is worn and everything else looks fine.

A good pair of shoes (say converse by jack purcell) can last about a year with moderate use.
Of course you won't be wearing them everyday, like anything else, shoes should be rotated so you can maximize their lifespan.

For me, the jack purcell's are a really good sneaker. They're made of canvas and stay clean (as long as you don't play soccer with them or something).

As far as high end sneakers go, to each his own, everyone has their 'thing' and some people just like expensive sneakers.
