I bought them back when they were a catalog item for about 1/3 of then retail price.
Never wore those Fairfaxes outside due to funky shape, though.
Suppose one can take them for a whirl wearing a pair of jeans.

Now that I read what others have said, I agree that these having just too much going on. I would suggest maybe looking for the Roosevelt which looks a little better IMO. Example: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-Allen-Edmonds...#ht_4416wt_905 Again, I still prefer these in any type of brown over the black...

I have a pair in chestnut that see regular use. I like 'em. Ae also made them in merlot, and the one pair of those that I saw looked nice, too.

I have them in black, chestnut and merlot and I get compliments often. The chestnut pair receives the most notice, followed by the merlot, and then the black. The shoes look very nice when worn with dressier clothing. I don't regret purchasing them at all.
