I'm a size 46inch chest and was wondering if I could still have good arm movement in a Camerman 54. It seems that many people stay TTS on the Cameraman. Should I go for a 56?

 

My other concern is that I'm 5'9'' and size 56 might have long sleeves that are too long.

Finding a 56 will be difficult, but I think a 44" is going to be too restrictive.

I would think a 54 would be fine.  Pit to pit according to end is 24 inches making for a 48 inch chest.  On top of that, the clasps at the chest area if closed at the opening the closest in gives you at least half an inch to the chest, more like an inche though.  Conversely you could do a 56 and put the clasp through the furthest out opening.  Either way though I think both would be long in the sleeve if you're 5'9". 

I ordered the Small, hoping it's a 48. If you look at their size chart the XL = European 54 so it should be ok.

Could someone help me with a really stupid question about Cabourn sizing? I am after a lined Surface jacket and am usually a 54 which is a XL right? There was one in an XXL so would that be a 56? I am a bit confused as I have never seen a XXL before.

All the jackets are marked with the size in numbers. I'd go with that rather than trying to follow some semi-random conversion a seller has made to sizes. Ask them for the pit to pit measurement and compare that to you chest size. Given how utterly random Cabourn sizing appears to be, it pays to play it safe.

The Surface jacket is on the Triads website, I have tried emailing them and no response and cant phone as I am in Oz at the moment. I think the XXL would be a 56.

Are the Nigel Cabourn Cameraman arms roomy? The 54 may fit a 46 inch chest, but I am concerned about the arms. I have a Frank Leder Hooded coat that has 24inch pit2pit measurement, but it's still restrictive, mainly because of a combination of the my arms being big and the coat arms being very fitted and so I don't have as much freedom of movement in that coat. But the Nigel Cabourn Cameraman has raglan sleeves and if the arms are roomy, I should be set. I don't plan on wearing a massive coat underneath, perhaps a sweater, but nothing more. 

Ya that company is a funny one. Not sure why they held onto their old stock for SOOOO Long before putting them on Sale. I guess that's just how they work they rather hold on than to put it out there.
