Nigel Cabourn - Page 107

As turunen notes and shows in the pics he posted, the aircraft jacket is pretty sheer.  Just an fyi when considering sizing.

That being said I've been pondering sizing on the piece for a while now.  I know the smock jacket even in a 48 was too big for me and I'm a 50 in a Cameraman, but the smock jacket is much roomier than the aircraft jacket.

I am swimming in mine which is a 5O. I should of sized down. I think some on this forum sized down and still had room. Just remember that it tapers down to the waist.

You mean the Aircraft jacket, right?

Oi Polloi has an extra 20% off their sale items with code "CANTBEBAD".  Only have that striped shirt left, but they have a size 48 in the off white smock jacket in the next couple of days.

Yoox has got to be the weirdest site ever.  Thanks for that link as a classic from another brand popped up.  Yet when I click on designers and look at that brand the item never shows.  On top of that the collection I'm looking at is... 2 years old and it's still not on sale.  I wonder if they even know they have this product considering the way their site works.

It seems the recent Cabourn stuff they got is 2 years old. The tag on my Cameraman said 2010 limited edition, centenary label, 100th anniversery of the orb.

Mine too.  Love that anniversary label.  Coat fits well and I like it, but I wish the Mackintosh portion was a bit lighter in color.  Still prefer my sunshine color-way from this Spring.

Still hoping for a Harris Mallory to come on YOOX in a 48. Don't think they are gong to carry it this season.

Dear Gentlemen,

Long time I ain't post anything on this thread. In fact since I got a cameraman, army/tan AW12, from dope-factory at 300 euros. It was thanks to this thread, so thank you all for sharing you NC love.

Firstly, I have a question. I've just got myself a magnificent Nigel Cabourn small multi stripes shirt in 48. They are absolutely magnificent. My opinion. The shirt is on his way to Paris. I am a bit worried about the sizing though because I fit a cameraman in 48 but I am easier on my 46. Yes I have both of them;) The 48 allow me to wear additional layers while the 46 is perfect just with a fine blazer and a shirt.

Regarding to these information how do you think the 48 shirt should fit me? I have read on this thread that apparently they are well-fitted? This seems surprising regarding Nigel Cabourn usual fit. I am mitigated because the sizing chart differs from a website to another.

So thanks in advance to those who can provide me significant insights on this.

Here is the shirt but I am quite sure you all know which one I am talking about

Secondly, I would like to inform you that I have spotted great Nigel Cabourn bargain to be made

-Two cameraman very cheap on this french website. Around 290 GBP, yes this is amazing!

- The oxford multi stripes shirt in various sizes there at 90 GBP (this is where I got my shirt), yes please:

Check out the others items because all is 70% off on this danish website. Notably there is a surface jacket in black (the first I saw so far) at 212 GBP!

Last but no least, I would like to introduce you to themilltown.com, a blog on menswear recently lauched by two of my special friend from York in the UK (they are well connected with Lewis from superdenim and the retailer Sarah coggles in York).

They have recently made an interview with Viberg Jr few weeks ago (short but insightful) where he announces a collaboration with NC to come and, more surprisingly, a clothing line for SS13.

Some of the classics for FW12 on present: http://www.present-london.com/nigel-cabourn/

Hopefully the surface jacket will be available in the same waxed fabrics as those aircraft jackets.

Great shout and post Seanrosas! You'll be fine with a 48 in the BD shirt, I bought the 50 recently and though fitted, it isn't too tight. Great shirt, thought I got a bargain this year on mine at £200 until you posted this, tempted to get the other version at that price......

I usually time the Cabourn sales perfectly every year and pick up most of what I want at the lowest discount possible. This year though, the prices just continue to drop, tough time for retail.

Thanks for the tips.  Lerayonfrais doesn't seem to deduct VAT and even charges tax though.  On top of the the price in euros doesn't reflect the true price in US dollars as the price goes up.  We'll see what they say about VAT and tax and then we'll go from there.

Thank you for the answer. It should be ok hopefully, I was looking at this shirt for ages at a fair price. Colours and heavy oxford seems fantastic.

Yeah great bargains to do this year, it's like there is much more retailers distrubuting NC nowadays. I am going to frenchtrotters destock-day tomorrow in Paris, I am expecting to find some great pieces from NC at more than 70%. They even planned some product from previous seasons. It could be amazing.

You profils pic is amazing by the way, it sounds like you have plenty of great pieces already!smile.gif NC is like tatoo, when you get one ppiece you want more pieces! ah
