The new design looks really nice.

what purpose does it serve compared to engadget, etc? can foresee it will become apple fanboys vs fandroid bash-parties.
+1. surprisingly clean.

It's more supposed to be focused towards things like EDC (which i'm assuming will be a huge chunk of it), computers, cars, audio, etc..

apart from a very smooth new interface there's a ton of new stuff and here's a summary:

1. blogs. members can create their own blogs. [maximum post limits tbd].

2. gallery. members can upload images to the supertalk community albums. [maximum post limits tbd]. this is all uncharted territory so not sure how it will develop.
--> follow the rules.

3. chat. superchat is back! [maximum 250 members]
--> you get auto bumped off the board when no activity for 60 minutes.
--> if the system gets abused then we might have to enforce tougher access so beware. we will be monitoring carefully.

4. new smilies! you asked for them [...in 2004] and superfuture delivered! yeh...sort of! ok. better late than never. :ph34r:

5. we added a few custom profiles including denim/t-shirts/shoes sizes so you might want to update your profiles.

6. social media integration. absolutely no idea what impact this is going to have!? but it was inevitable... it is probably going to turbocharge some threads around the internet.

7. status updates. hmm. no doubt these should be interesting..

8. friends. who needs facebook anymore?

9. subforums and forum shortcuts. once we are up and running we can look at rearranging some of the forums --> especially supermarket.

Has RSS support been completely removed or just for the time being? It was such an awesome way to keep tabs on supermarket.

why can I not view member profiles?

Probably one of the kinks they need to resolve.

i cant even sign in, and when i try it won't let me browse the forums because i'm not auth'd or something

no new threads allowed.

and no searching in the supermarket.
