ok... this should be interesting. post favorite lyrics. worked at the other sf, and im guess ing will work better here since i think there is a much wider musical taste here.

ill start
ballad of grimaldi: pete doherty

while theres still a fighting chance
why cant you just get up and go
and get away from this hollow romance
thats slowly binding us both

because, youll tell me what you want and ill avoid it
tell it to the sick and to the damned
show me what you love, watch me destroy it
for your love just crumbles in my hands

but if you stay for a while
try to think of something kind to say
and maybe if we pray for a while
st jude will hear my pleas and see me on my knees

because she knows
i adore you
we wont be fighting tonight
because she knows
i adore you.
we wont be fighting in the street

i laugh and fall just like grimaldi
you wear your make-up like baby jane
all those promising lies that you told me
come on and tell me them again

i walk the streets all of my life
with fear and hope at every turn
she ..........
made him a wife
(mumblemumble) crash and burn

because hell tell 'im what he wnat and hell aviod it
might as well tell it to the sick and to the damned
show what you love, watch him destroy it
love just seems to crumble in his hands.

I've got that line "If looks could kill they probably will" stuck in my head, repeating over and over. Just that one line. It's from GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS by Peter Gabriel. Someone covered it recently-------Will Oldham? I can't figure it out.

Whoever we are

Wherever we're from

We shoulda noticed by now

Our behavior is dumb

And if our chances

Expect to improve

It's gonna take a lot more

Than tryin' to remove

The other race

Or the other whatever

From the face

Of the planet altogether

They call it THE EARTH

Which is a dumb kinda name

But they named it right

'Cause we behave the same...

We are dumb all over

Dumb all over,

Yes we are

Dumb all over,

Near'n far

Dumb all over

Black 'n white

People, we is not wrapped tight

Nurds on the left

Nurds on the right

Religious fanatics

On the air every night

Sayin' the Bible

Tells the story

Makes the details

Sound real gory

'Bout what to do

If the geeks over there

Don't believe in the book

We got over here

You can't run a race

Without no feet

'N pretty soon

There won't be no street

For dummies to jog on

Or doggies to dog on

Religious fanatics

Can make it be all gone

(I mean it won't blow up

'N disappear

It'll just look ugly

For a thousand years...)

You can't run a country

By a book of religion

Not by a heap

Or a lump or a smidgeon

Of foolish rules

Of ancient date

Designed to make

You all feel great

While you fold, spindle

And mutilate

Those unbelievers

From a neighboring state

TO ARMS! TO ARMS!

Hooray! That's great

Two legs ain't bad

Unless there's a crate

They ship the parts

To mama in

For souvenirs: two ears (Get down!)

Not his, not hers (but what the hey?)

The Good Book says:

"It's gotta be that way!"

But their book says:

"REVENGE THE CRUSADES. . .

With whips 'n chains

'N hand grenades. . ."

TWO ARMS? TWO ARMS?

Have another and another

Our Cod says:

"There ain't no other!"

Our Cod says

"It's all okay!"

Our God says "This is the way!"

It says in the book:

"Burn 'n destroy. ..

'N repent, 'n redeem

'N revenge, 'n deploy

'N rumble thee forth

To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side

'Cause they don't go for what's in the book

'N that makes 'em BAD

So verily we must choppeth them up

And stompeth them down

Or rent a nice French bomb

To poof them out of existence

While leaving their real estate just where we need it

To use again

For temples in which to praise OURGOD

("Cause he can really take care of business!")

And when his humble TV servant

With humble white hair

And humble glasses

And a nice brown suit

And maybe a blonde wife who takes phone calls

Tells us our God says

It's okay to do this stuff

Then we gotta do it,

'Cause if we don't do it,

We ain't gwine up to hebbin!

(Depending on which book you're using at the time...

Can't use theirs. . .it don't work . . .it's all lies...Gotta
use mine...)

Ain't that right?

That's what they say

Every night...

Everyday. ..

Hey, we can't really be dumb

If we're just following

God's Orders

Hey, let's get serious...

God knows what he's doin'

He wrote this book here

An'the book says:

He made us all to be just like Him,"

so...

If we're dumb...

Then God is dumb...

(An' maybe even a little ugly on the side)

I'm going away
Where you will look for me
Where I'm going you cannot come

No one's ever gonna take my life from me
I lay it down
A ghost is born
A ghost is born
A ghost is born

I'm an ocean
I'm all emotion
I'm a cherry ghost
Cherry ghost

Son look at all the people in this restaurant
What do you think they weigh?
And now out the window to the parking lot,
At their SUVs taking all of the space

They give no fuck;
They talk as loud as they want
They give no fuck;
Just as long as there's enough for them.

Gonna get on the microphone down at Wal-Mart
Talk about some shit that's been on my mind
Talk about the state of this great nation of ours
People, look to you left, yeah, look to your right.

They give no fuck;
They buy as much as they want.
They give no fuck;
Just as long as there's enough for them.

So I'm looking at the people lining up for plastic
Wouldn't you like to see them in the National Geographic?
Squatting bare-assed in the dirt eating rice from a bowl
With a towel on their head and maybe a bone in their nose.

See that asshole with the peace sign on his license plate?
Giving me the finger and running me out of his lane?
God made us number one cause he loves us the best.
Well maybe he should go bless someone else for a while, give us a rest.

(They give no)
Yeah, and everyone can see
(They give no)
We've eaten all that we can eat.

Man in Black by Johnny Cash

Well you wonder why I always dress in black
Why I never wear bright colors on my back
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down
Livin' in the hopeless hungry side of town
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime
But he's there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who've never read
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity
Why, you'd think He's talkin' straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine I does suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front their oughtta be a man in black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mourning, for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believing that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believing that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Oh, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's okay,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Til things are brighter, I'm the Man in Black.

My Anthem:

"Minor Threat" by Minor Threat

We're not the first, I hope we're not the last
'Cause I know we're all heading for that adult crash
The times is so little, the time belongs to us
Why is everybody in such a fucking rush?

Make do with what you have
Take what you can get
Pay no mind to us
We're just a minor threat

We're just a minor threat

Early to finish, I was late to start
I might be an adult, but I'm a minor at heart
Go to college, be a man, what's the fucking deal?
It's not how old I am, it's how old I feel

Take your time
Try not to forget
We never will
We're just a minor threat

We're just a minor threat

sizzla- what does it worth

What does it worth, without love ?
Put away your distrust and your grudge
Words without work is not enough
And everyday you make a pull, the journey get rough
What is this world without love ?
Put away your distrust and your grudge
Words without work is not enough
And everyday you make a try the journey get tough

Verse 1:
You remember when you trodding through the valleys of the region ?
Jumping the follies, all the doubts and confusions
Giving obstacles, so many trouble you buck up on
Things a go the other way
When a never so you set your plan
Words of the wicked is pollution
Caan bring no stress nor no strain inna Zion
Emperor Selassie is the only foundation
Only Emmanuel relieve the frustration
You want to be free from the corruption
Me tell you such is life from the creation
Only Marcus Garvey show the situation
I only chant fi repatriation

Chorus

Verse 2:
From the things in life you can't walk away
Whatsoever it brings, it will have to stay
According to your words, a double death you pay
Keep the smile on your face, make it an easy day
Me know them weak, so them gone astray
Wolf amongst the sheep, them deh deh same way
See me and a creep fi make a better way
One man fly the seal, a King Selassie I me sey
Some a them a sleep, even before them pray
Getting it right a come a lion bay
Through un-devine only if you stay
In a the right line, you see the right way
Selassie will be blazing I praise him
Remember that is blackness me still a say

Chorus

Verse 3:
There is no sense in turning back
Get right by your friend, whether you are a idiot
This world want love to put them out pon top
Some a them say that them have it
But me know say them no have
Much easier if we all could share
No distrust nor envy must be in here
Dirty mind people, a time fi you care
What is not yours, me say don't interfere

90 miles outside Chicago
Can't stop driving
I don't know why
So many questions
I need an answer
Two years later
You're still on my mind
Whatever happened to Amelia Earhart
Who holds the stars up in the sky
Is true love once in a lifetime
Did the captain of the Titanic cry
Chorus:
Someday we'll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know
Why I wasn't meant for you
Does anybody know the way to Atlantis
Or what the wind says when she cries
I'm speeding by the place where I met you
For the 97th time tonight
(chorus)
Someday we'll know
Why Samson loved Delilah
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know
That I was the one for you
I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow
I watched the stars crash in the sea
If I could ask God just one question
Why aren't you here with me? Tonight
(chorus)
Someday we'll know
Why sampson loved Delilah
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know
That I was the One for you
Postscript: Seeing you in February was great
Cliches eventually all come true
"time heals all wounds"
I went to get us our 9th drink
and you ran out the door with another guy
I woke up on the floor with my shoes on
A smile on my face and I didn't even care

People hand in hand
Have i lived to see the milk and honey land?
Where hates a dream and love forever stands
Or is this a vision in my mind?

The law was never passed
But somehow all men feel they're truly free at last.
Have we really gone this far through space and time
Or is this a vision in my mind?

I'm not one who make believes
I know that leaves are green
They only turn to brown when autumn comes around
I know just what i say
Today's not yesterday
And all things have an ending

But what i'd like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to find our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?

I'm not one who make believes
I know that leaves are green
They only change to brown when autumn comes around
I know just what i say
Today's not yesterday
And all things have an ending

But what i'd like to know
Is could a place like this exist so beautiful
Or do we have to take our wings and fly away
To the vision in our mind?

I spoke to a man
down at the tracks.
I asked him
how he don't go mad.
He said, "Look here, junior, don't you be so happy.
And for Heaven's sake, don't you be so sad."
