The Obscure Board Games of Your Youth Thread

Couldn't find an existing one so I thought I'd start it.

This thread may only be for the 30 and over crowd, given that the board game industry took a huge nose dive as Nintendo, Playstation, and XBox soared to new home entertainment heights (assholes). However, I do realize that there were probably some awesome games that came out in the 90's too (as if).

So what were they? And I'm not talking about some candy-ass Shoots and Ladders or Connect Four. Ditto goes for all you closet dungeon masters turned ninja goth fashionistas. My only prerequisite is that it has to have some kind of official surface to play on that comes with the game. Electronic components are acceptable and encouraged.

Some of my favorites at various points throughout my childhood include:

If I recall, most of these games gave 10 year old geeky burningbright teh boanerz.

THIS is the one that instantly came to mind. My cousin had it and every time I would go over his house, it was straight to the closet to grab this game.

I loved how the commercial made this game out to be the most insane ADHD orgasmic experience a boy could have. It was just shooting metal ball bearings at a spinning cog.

YES! I was so fucking jealous of my cousins when they got one. Although truth be told they always had better toys than I did. I also couldn't understand how they would be bored with it.

It almost seems like it's standard issue to have that wealthy cousin. I had a cousin whose dad would take business trips to Japan and he'd come back with all these dope die cast metal toys (a la Gundham, Voltron, Grandizer Z) and they'd just be sitting discarded around his bedroom. Same with his Commodore 64.

Meanwhile I was making cities and fortresses out of my wooden blocks for my matchbox cars and plastic army men. I will admit we did have some pretty sweet board games though, I just wish we'd taken better care of them. Just checked on ebay and a working Dark Tower game is going for $350-400.

No sure if this technically belongs in the thread but I've played Go since I was around ten years old. They use to sell an edition in the standard board game box but the game is ancient and most who play have nicer boards.

My youth, or the Hitler Youth?

Yup, apparently in WW2 there was a Nazi board game designed to teach kids battlefield tactics.
