How do (did) you greet your father?

So, how do (or did) you greet your father? Obviously not talking about when you were five years old, but as a teenager or adult. I think it is an interesting question, but that should be obvious since I am poasting the thread.

Usually greet with a hug. I've shaken his hand millions of times, whether it's making a deal, or joking around, or congratulating each other, but usually when we get the rare chance to see each other, we're so happy about it we hug.

Oh, I forgot to answer. Always a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Same as my mother.

Interesting question. I had a great upbringing but it was very Midwestern in that it was not very demonstrative. After 44 years it's only been recently that it usually includes a hug... it changed when my father's mom died several years ago and dad started sensing his own mortality and questioning his values a bit.

interesting question. we don't, and we see each other regularly. its shitty, I know, and no matter how I wish I could warm up to my dad (and mom) growing up emotionally distant from them makes it so hard to do so. we're not estranged at all, we just don't acknowledge each other's presence.

We are not a particularly warm and lovey family. If I ever hugged my father it would be considered extremely unusual. He would probably be very confused.
