35 years ago tonight.

The bell recovered from the EF wreck will ring 29 times tonight to remember the lost crew.

Edmund Fitzgerald sinking still leads Great Lakes lore

I think that goddamned song goes on for 29 minutes to honor the lost crew, always the same two lines of music again and again and again and again.

i think it's supposed to follow the structure of a traditional sea shanty. Phil Ochs's "Pleasures of the Harbour" does the same thing.
