So I am heading to the Big Apple during the week of Thanksgiving with a girl. 2 questions. I am trying to find a place to stay, preferably close to Flushing Chinatown. Does anyone know the how I can locate a cheap hotel that's not too crappy but clean and safe. I am basically looking for some thing for us to sleep at night, and not terribly expensive. Second, any huge sales that will occur during that week.

Appreciate the feedback.

I think theres a Holiday Inn or a Marriott just off Northern Blvd., right by Flushing Main. Huge sales? Theres no upscale shopping on Main St. though...

Thanks. For sales, I meant in general.

Huge sales all over as the day after TGiving is "Black Friday" and there are sales leading up to the TGiving holiday. If you are willing to take a trip up to Woodbury commons that Friday, you can really experience the madnessa s it opens at midnight!

How far is Woodbury Commons from the city. We won't have a car, so getting out there can potentially be a problem. I am mainly going to hit up saks and barneys. Also which century21 location is the best to dig up gems.

Why flushing? That place is the pits!! The Sheraton off Main St is decent. Woodbury commons is about 1.5 hours away from the Queens area. I'm sure there are buses to and fro from the city.

I went to New York last year for a couple days, and stayed at the Wyndham hotel in Flushing for one night. It was decent I guess. I want to stay somewhere close to Chinatown basically. I know it's not the best of places. I am trying to look for hotels under or around 100 dollars per night. Not even sure where to begin since I am not familiar with the entire city.

*edited* I have friends that stayed in the Manhattan chinatown too...they have decent small hotels (newly built) in the area. give it a search...it will be more convenient than having to travel to and from flushing.

Century 21 in lower Manhattan is the only way to go.
You can catch a bus from Port Authority to Woodbury and back. Appr $40 bucks with a coupon book. Ride is appr 50 minutes.

Thanks. I'll try to look into that.

That's not too bad. I guess I have to plan this trip out really well.
