All,

I'm in San Fran for 3 days this upcoming week: Thursday - Friday staying in the Fisherman's Wharf area.

- Can you all share some eateries in and around Fisherman's Wharf. ?
- Things to do?

Thanks,

What'd would the best mode of transporation to go around the city? I have a car, but parking is going to be expensive I'm assuming.

public trans is worse. Cable car on the hyde powell lines will get you downtown, etc. but it's expensive. walk the embarcadero. If you want to go to Lincoln park, to the zoo, whatever, drive.

Yeah and it's hard to find parking. The muny I've heard is quite good, but I'm pretty anti-bus. I just walk anything under 3.5 miles and cab anything over. The city is really small something like 6 or 7 miles end to end so if you don't mind walking a lot then it's a good cost effective if not timely way to get around.

Avoid Muni like hell. Take that cable car from Fishermans Wharf to Union Square for novelty but that's it.

typical of a valley-way to say that

The muni works. Sometimes it works great, other times you'll have your face in the armpit of an 86 year old chinese lady carrying 6 live chickens in her pink plastic bags.

but it works and its cheap, and its better than finding parking.

(unless you're heading out to the other 6 square miles outside of DT in which case driving is fine)

there are two little lunch places in the Marina I really liked - Pluto's and Asqew - if you spend any time there.
City Lights bookstore is awesome
girlfriend was not down with going to the Mitchell Brothers theater on amateur night when we stayed in the Tenderloin, but I think you should

go to North Beach and walk up to Coit Tower. I did that when I visited, nice walk/hike and then got some drinks afterwards.

Take a ferry from Pier 39 or the Ferry Building (which is worth seeing in itself) to Sausalito.

If you've never seen old growth redwoods, Muir Woods is worth a trip to.
