Books With Practical Benefits pt. 2

Hello,

I'm sure everyone likes to read. Fiction and non-fiction alike. Some books take you to other places, yada yada, whereas other books make you question basic assumptions you've made about the world around you and how to go about living in it. Which books did you read and learn the most from about living? or Which books benefited your day-to-day life most after reading?

Example: The 48 Laws of Power, The Tipping Point etc

Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. I read it for a cultural history class in college, and it has stuck with me over the years, and has had a real impact on how I interact with people.

This.

Prob. the most widely read "practical" book.

http://www.amazon.com/How-Become-Alp...0910784&sr=1-1 Seriously. I read part of Dale Carnegie's book, but I didn't like it. It's very manipulative.

Depends on how thick the book needs to be in order to stop my table from moving.

This is on my desk right now. It's actually probably the only book of it's type (I've come across) that a) doesn't state the absurdly obvious, b) doesn't talk down to the reader, and c) gives timeless advice applicable in nearly any situation. I'm glad his wife and estate have made the minor tweaks over the years to keep it contemporary.
