Frankly, I would say that I am a pretty boring dresser. Most days, I usually wear khakis or jeans (khaki shorts in the warmer months) and an oxford cloth buttondown (OCBD) shirt. I have OCBDs in several different colors, and also have sport shirts in madras for the warmer months and some shirts different checks and plaids for the cooler months. However, the general equation is usually just pants+shirt=dressed.
Your shoes are almost always going to be the most important piece in your fit. We know what an OCBD is. Never wear khaki shorts, especially with an OCBD. JKissi can break this rule, but he is tall and has a good eye for clothes and movie-star good looks. People who are not JKissi should stay away.

This "third item" can completely change the outfit by becoming the focal point, making the pants and shirts to perform their roles as supporting players. When I am able to wear this third item, that is when I really feel like I am "dressed."
No one else is paying as much attention to the role your pieces play in the overall fit as you are. People in general are not going to process your outfit in the way you want them to. If you don't want to use certain words because women use them, I would suggest therapy.

Now that the temperatures are dropping, I am looking forward to making the most of my wardrobe. What do you guys think?
I'm going to say some words, and you tell me what you think: "Colored socks." "Ascot." "Silk or jersey scarf." "Sunglasses." "Linen jacket." "Nifty watch." "Jewelry."
I don't know why you would dress yourself entirely in blue, beige, and white. Chinos are the worst pants on the planet unless you are wealthy, Italian, and on vacation. Sometimes not even then. Getting dressed can be a colossal pleasure, why deprive yourself of that?
