I think I hate San Francisco. - Page 160

This is an interesting list. On a quick read through it seems cities are likely to be rewarded (deemed to have an attractive populace) for high white populations/white culture (hard to get whiter than the birthplace of grunge) and cities are likely to be punished (deemed to be unattractive) for large non-white and/or immigrant populations.
The one true outlier for this is SLC but that can probably be attributed to the Mormonism not being liked.
San Francisco, Providence and Nashville are the three cities that usually pop to mind when one is thinking beautiful people.
Anyone read this comedy gold today?
SAN FRANCISCO — A few weeks ago, Mike North ambled up the steps of his home in the Lower Haight neighborhood here, feeling blissed out. Fresh from a 90-minute yoga class with live music and an instructor who had worn fishnet stockings and high heels, he was looking forward to a quiet, relaxing evening.
Instead, he opened the front door and was engulfed by an Enlightenment-era theme party.
“It was just full-on costumes, the plague was running rampant and there were doctors running around trying to cure it,” Mr. North, 36, said recently. “There were people in monocles and full Edwardian garb. I stood there in my yoga clothes thinking, ‘Quick, I need to get my tail coat and top hat, stat!’ ”

What is this, Madagascar?
Not necessarily. The article is careful not to mention the yoga teacher's sex.
And why would an "Enlightenment-era theme party" particularly feature the plague? Why would it feature "Edwardian garb" at all?
Honestly. Hipsters today have the historical awareness of tree squirrels.
BTW, the Google bus protests are hilarious. First it's "Cars are evil! Save the planet! Global warming! Gah!" So a private company spends a considerable sum of its own money to provide mass transit so hundreds of employees don't have to use cars and instead of getting a public service award it's "BOOO! Money-grubbing corporate greedheads! How dare you use the People's Bus Stops!!!"
Fine. Don't use the bus stops. Just stop in the middle of the road and wait for passengers. I believe that's what regular buses in SanFo do anyway, don't they?
Even better. Cancel the whole thing. I'd say that would teach them but, of course, it almost certainly won't.
