Glad to hear you're enjoying America, D. Kansas is part of the no-man's land. It's a shame they get two senators. biggrin.gif

I was really tempted to stop at the "six-legged cow" museum but needed to push on.

Trying to decide on going straight through St Louis and across Kentucky or drop down into Tennessee and North Carolina.

Man, St. Louis really is a podunk town. I went to the Google to find some images of the view from inside the Arch to press my case for you to stop and go up, but there ain't no there there. I still think it's worth a stop if you're driving through, though. It's a great bit of minimalism you can ride to the top.

Thanks. My real question is Kentucky versus Tennessee. Know nothing about either.

I'm afraid I'm of little use to you, then. Bon chance!

I thought Kentucky was beautiful and the people were really warm and welcoming. I've literally spent about 15 minutes in TN so no help there.

LOL, I think this was said in jest.

But what is "jest" when you're talking about lefty?

True.

Ripping across the wasteland that is Kansas I saw a sign for Crane's Country Store just outside of St. Louis. Had to swing by. Cool shop and truly a country store with a little bit of everything.

If you're going to actually stop, TN over Kentucky., especially Nashville.

The Hermitage:

The Grand Ole Opry and you can walk in the footsteps of Music legends - Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, etc.

BTW lefty if you are driving to NYC, please bring gas. If you haven't heard, there is a fuel shortage in the NYC/NJ area. If you plan to fill your tank in NJ, there are some fueling restrictions put in place this weekend. Not sure how long they will last.

Hammered through Kentucky and dropped into Tennessee. Grabbed a haircut at Frank's in Knoxville, then headed to Asheville NC to the Grand Bohemian.

Fishing tomorrow.

^Thanks. Have a corporate apt in Chelsea with parking for wed, but may kill a day or so and try for Thurs/Fri or leave the car with friends in NJ.

70 degrees at 6:30 pm on November 4, perfectly clear sky. This could go in the love SF or hate SF column depending on your perspective.

Cross-country trips are the best. But America's Best Value Inn was my stop of choice. Glad you've had an enjoyable trip so far. Hope it continues.

I believe the proprietor of Crane's post in SF regularly - I have read some of his Wolverine boot reviews...

So, Lefty- apologize for the cluelessness- is this your Return trip to NYC- never to return to SF- or just a general road trip...

Alas, the weather here is indeed perfect...80 and sunny even at the beach...no Nor'easter in the forecast.

Its days like this when people who say the weather "sucks" in SF need to get a clue.
