My college GF had a cabin there, I spent a great deal of time there and at the Ahwanee.

Thanks for this. I sent this to some students and one of them added the Full House soundtrack to it:

Kings Canyon was my favorite National Park in CA, by far. Highly recommended.

Woke up yesterday to a foot of snow in Mammoth Lakes, which meant that every sierra pass was closed. Going up to Tahoe would have been possible, but the storm was heading that way and the chain control was in effect. Figured that chains would slow us down too much so we went south almost all the way to Bakersfield to get around the mountains. 10 1/2 hours to get back to SanFo crossing through every possible climate and terrain.

Add that to the plus list - you can actually ski in the morning and surf in the afternoon.

Also fished Hot Creek and the Lower Owens for wild browns. And stopped in at the Lone Pine cowboy film museum.

I miss snow so much I got up early and shoveled out the cars, walkways, and decks of the cabin. Then I got into the car and drove around just for the hell of it. Can't wait to get back to a real winter.

Weiner's Law! I love it!

Winter is the main thing I miss about living back east. I was in a 5 minute snow flurry in Vermont a couple of weeks ago and I was happy for days.
