Looking for a Pea Coat

I'm strapped on cash so I can't spend more than $200... Where can I get a decent pea coat (preferably black)? I'm skinny so I need something that's slim fitting . Any suggestions? Oh, I live in BC, Canada. Soooo please post sites or recommend stores that are in Canada .

If uniqlo has a web presence in Canada that might be worth looking at, they are pretty cheap, look fine and I think are fairly warm.

check the buy and sell area of this forum. You can often get some nice hardly used but high quality coats. also, have you read through the massive peacoat thread?

Not in Canada, but they ship worldwide. For a little more than $200, you can have the real thing.

My standard advice is Sterling Wear. Online order, a bit cheaper than Schott, will come out to about $200 Canadian once all is said and done with shipping, fees, taxes. They use UPS so brokerage fees and Canadian sales tax will be charged. Made in USA so no duties.

I have a navy blue one and love it.

In Canada you can go for GAP or Old Navy for much less but the quality won't be anything like Schott or Sterling Wear.

This is the most sage advice. Schott and Sterling are the best.

Do they still use UPS? I am about to buy a coat from them and they have a USPS shipping option to Canada, I would prefer USPS to UPS since I heard it will cost less when crossing the border, is that right? Can you break down what you paid for your Sterlingwear pea coat?

You know I found a pretty decent coat, I went to GAP and it turns out GAP, Old Navy and Banana Republic are like owned by the same guy? Anyways I found this really nice coat at BR http://bananarepublic.gapcanada.ca/b...scid=774661003 Just went downtown and tried it on. I really like it except it's kind of wide around the waist/stomach. Is is possible to tailor it?

the sterling wear pea coats in true styling that seem to be the warmest for Canada's weather.
the "authentic" and the "classic".
both have very warm linings.

is there any equivalent to army surplus or anything like that in canada? i believe they sell "authentic" peacoats.
