Shanghai Airport

Is Shanghai airport difficult for foreigners to navigate, or is it generally reliable (no lost luggage, easy to get transfer airlines, etc.)?

I assume signs are in English, but can the staff speak competent English as well?

Also, any experience flying China Eastern? They seem to have the lowest fares for flights within east Asia.

Absolute piece of cake. All signs are in English (along with Chinese of course) and announcements over the PA system are repeated in English as well. I am sure the airline staff would be functional in English. It is also no problem whatsoever to take the Maglev to the subway and connect into the city. Ticket machines have English menus and subway announcements are repeated in English. Don't have too much experience with China Eastern though....

Pudong airport is great. english signs, english advertisements.

The person checking ticket, security personnel, person directing you around, all spoke English. the janitor may not speak english though.

convenient to get to downtown shanghai too. metro and train both accessible.

Last time at the Shanghai Airport I did NOT get a shoe shine, much to the chagrin of my embarassed coworker Franklin.
