Quite often as a kid, yes. I have prepared brains for an American friend whose grandparents used to serve it to him. Had to special order the cut.

I like the special touch it gives to vol au vent filling.

I have also. The Tete de Cochon at Robuchon was absolutly sublime, as ere the Pieds de Cochon. I must admit that I have not searched brains out anywhere else, but pigs feet are a definite favorite of mine.


I like tripe sometimes. The easiest way to eat it is alla Napoletana, but there are some other recipes that are equally good if not better. I do not like tripe in Chinese food.

Hey man, like I've said earlier, I've eaten rabbit brains, which most people consider disgusting. I've also eaten lobster eyes. I've eaten frog. But all that talk about spleen stuffed with liver fat was just nasty.

Don't give me any ideas.

It's actually quite tasty. If you ate it without knowing what is was, you'd surely like it.

I've never had brains, but I have had liver (both the fried and chopped variety), as well as tongue. I also ate some haggis once (not that bad, actually).

Funny how this turned into a bragging contest of all the exotic things you've eaten.

It's not until you are in the US or in the company of Americans that you can actually brag about eating beef tongue or calves liver

It's not really a contest any longer. Lucky Strike wins hands down with the sheep's balls.

Actually, neither one of those is that uncommon even in the US. Spleen, balls, and brains are pretty uncommon here though.

Whoever can claim that they have eaten human placenta is the real winner.
