Omg, I just got a haircut at this new place and I just hate it. I guess it is what you paid for. I usually go to this better hair salon but it is more expensive so I just went to this cheaper one. Can anyone suggest me any GOOD salons or barber shops in L.A.? And as in good, I do mean good because the place that I just went got good reviews online but it's another situation when you walk in to the store. Thanks if you can suggest me any place.

I prefer places that are cheap as hell and old school so I go to Tel's in Santa Monica.

Shorty's on Fairfax just N of Melrose is quite good and low priced - $22 for a cut (although at that price, you should give your stylist a $10 tip). Bring a picture in with you of your desired style, I can't stress this enough. This is true for any salon. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache when both you and your stylist know exactly the look that you're going for.

I was just going through the same problem. I let my hair grow out for a new style and forgot how hard it is to find a decent barber. LA is over-saturated with franchise salons and "barber shops" with pretend barbers who only know how to give buzz cuts.

My advice if you want a medium to long hair style is to search for a stylist and not a barber. Sad to say this, but you will find these on the posh side of town mostly and the salons will not be what barber shops are. Sure there are small dinky barber shop gems out around the greater la area, but these are nearly impossible to find let alone stumble upon.

Ahhhh, the "*** plaza" you speak of is called Little Osaka. Also, you are an asshole.

$40 is cheap for a cut in LA. Imagine the rent they have to pay right in the heart of Weho.

Just wanted to update this thread. Baxter Finley was great. Probably the best haircut I've ever had. Will definitely go back.
