I think it's just the way the photos were taken -- more flattering to some shoes than to others. Shoes seem to photograph best when the view is entirely from one side (top/botton/side/front/back) than from an angle (as are these); however, more features can be viewed when photos are from an angle.... My personal favorite for a shoe website is that of St. Crispin's (of course, this GG catalog is merely that -- a catalog -- not a website).
