Eh? Would you rather have food or a pair of EGs?

Maybe it's not a glitch... it's been several hours and the shoes' webpage is still the same.

are these actually 'Purple label', I bought a pair off ebay that has this sort of cursive labelling on the insole with a typeset 'polo' on the sole. That particular shoe is very nice, but I assumed that it was a C&J, probably Handgrade. Could this be the same?

If the shoes in the pic are the ones that show up at your door, then yes.

well, you know, EG shoes can be considered an expense for school if you look at it from a certain point of view.

just ask you parents for more money, tell them there is an abrupt need for another college need. that's what i did!

I'm trying to buy a pair, but unfortunately polo.com only ships to US/Canada.

Does anyone fancy buying for me, to ship onward to the Netherlands? I'm a size US7.5D

Thanks,
Luc

I've always been interested when designers have others manufacture their items - just because these are made by Edward Green, does it really mean they are equal in quality to the shoes that come from the same factory, and are branded Edward Green ?

Heck, I'd buy them and ship onwards for a couple people, if theyd chip in to buy a pair for a poor college student!

Try RLTRUNK. Should be 20% off until 10/31/06. Brings the pre-tax / ship price down to $260.

If you're speaking in a general sense, then the answer is no. Lots of companies will make to specification, and are indifferent to whether that specification is of a higher or lower degree of quality than the house-branded stuff. Grenson, for example, now makes its top-line Masterpieces only for Paul Stuart. And then there's Corneliani, which makes the suits for Polo blue label. The suits are nice, but lack the handwork and construction quality of Corneliani's house-branded mainline stuff.

In this case, though, we have a track record to go on. EG's work for PL is well-discussed around these parts, and enough people have bought the PL shoes that the quality is fairly assured. (Assuming that what folks receive really turns out to be EG PL shoes.)
